With the development of social science and technology, people put forward new requirements for communication technology: not only to meet the reliability of communication, but also to meet the current information of large capacity transmission. So, the optical network has been widely used because of the need to meet these requirements. The inevitability and great harm of network fault makes the survivability of the network become an indispensable part of the network, especially in the high transmission rate of optical network. P-cycles is a kind of effective protection technology of optical network survivability, not only can realize the fast recovery of circular protection, but also has the high resource utilization rate of the network protection. P-cycles protection algorithm is a heuristic algorithm, which is divided into two steps: the structure of p-cycles and sparecapacity allocation. In this paper, we study the construction algorithm of p-cycles, and improve the Grow algorithm in the classical heuristic algorithm. The high performance of the alternative p-cycles just have the potential to protect the efficiency, only allocate the sparecapacity of the alternative p-cycles, can truly deploy the p-cycles into the network. We analyse the CIDA algorithm in detail in this paper, and improve the problem of the sparecapacity allocation of the algorithm. We propose a new evaluation index S, which combines the protection efficiency and the prior efficiency, and use S as the standard of expansion of p-cycles, so the optimal allocation of P-cycles can be achieved by adjusting the parameter ?. Through the simulation, the SCIDA algorithm can effectively reduce the number of p-cycles, reduce the redundancy and improve the resource utilization.
