Lu3Al5O12?Lu AG?,the same as Y3Al5O12?YAG?,belongs to the garnet which has excellent mechanical property and heat-conducting property. And it is an excellent host material. With laser technology being maturity, related laser ceramics have been gradually exploited. For the first time this paper do systemic research on the laser performance of Nd-doped Lutetium Aluminium Garnet ceramic?Nd:Lu AG?.The multi-wavelength lasers generated with4F3/2?4I?11?/2 and4F3/2?4I?13?/2transition were investigated.Specific content as follows:First,4F3/2?4I?11?/2 transition with 1.0-1.1?m laser output was studied by LD end-pumping Nd:Lu AG ceramic. In the experiment,1064 nm and 1123 nm lasers are obtained.Under the incident power of20.4W and the transmittance at 1064 nm of 34%,we obtained the output power of 8.3W.Under the incident power of 20.4W and the transmittance at 1123 nm of 4.4%,we obtained the output power of 3.5W.We also measured the spectra of the corresponding wave band when we used Nd:YAG ceramic as the laser material in the same condition. The spectra of these laser materials were compared each other and they are nearly same.Second,4F3/2?4I?13?/2 transition with 1.3?m laser output was studied by LD end-pumping Nd:Lu AG ceramic. In the experiment,we obtained not only 1320.5nm and 1338 nm but also 1338 nm and 1353 nm dual wavelength lasers. When the incident power was 21 W and transmittance of output mirror was 8% for 1320.5nm and 1338 nm,we obtained the output power of 3.05 W.When the transmittance of output mirror for 1338 nm and 1353 nm were15.5% and 7.0%,respectively,we obtained the maximum output power of 2.53 W for 1338 nm and1353nm.And we also got the laser spectrum when Nd:YAG ceramic was used as the laser material and was compared with these of Nd:Lu AG ceramic under the same experiment conditions. That shows the4F3/2?4I?13?/2 transition of both has some differences.
