Color vision defect is a kind of hereditary disease puzzled people for a long time. Its pathological features is that the patients can't perceive or distinguish color variation under the condition of normal light. Thus the normal life and learning work of the patient caused the influence and inevitably. At least two hundred million color vision defect patients in the world at present. So, it's particularly important to reduce the restriction of color vision defect patients about obtaining information from the colorful world with the vision defect. In order to improve that phenomenon, people done a lot of research on genetic defects in medicine, biology, genetic genetics and other fields. But so far, the study of color blindness cannot solve that kind of phenomenon. In this paper, we research the color vision defects and color correction from the perspective of image processing. This method not only avoid the possibility of the medical trauma, but also provide an external information processing module in the computer which could ensure the color vision defect of auxiliary method extensibility through real-time optimization algorithm updates. Thus, it has a great research value to solve recognition and correction of image for color vision defect patients with the digital image processing technology.This paper takes A.A.Gooch's Color2 gray algorithm as the foundation, research the color image gray scale technology based on Color difference model. Gooch's algorithm maps the brightness information or color information of color images to gray images selectively. In order to reduce the loss of color information and improve the contrast of gray images, in this paper, we respectively choose the HSI color space which conforms to the human visual system and the RGB color space which is widely used in many hardware equipments. We join the energy loss compensation parameters when structure the chromatic object function in HSI space and the RGB space. Thus we the use the chromatic information of color image at the same time use the brightness information. In addition, we through providing a new chromatic object module, make the gray procession directly under the two color Spaces, and less information loss caused by the color space conversion and speed.Finally, we use the actual image and color defect detection images to prove the effectiveness of our algorithm. So as to put forward the application cases about the color image gray scale technology based on Color difference model. In particular, our algorithm makes color vision defect patients could distinguish the color information in the original color figure which they could not before. Then, we raise the perception of color image information for color vision defect patients.
