The Research On Communication Mechanism Of The News Media In Environmental Crisis Reporting

The agreement of drawing up the 13 th five-year-plan put forward that China should adhere to green development and try best to improve the ecological environment, which is consist with the request that China should built a beautiful country and ecological civilization. And the core of protecting the environment is improving the environment quality. We have made remarkable economic achievements since the reform and opening, at the same time, we also paid painful environmental costs. Recently, the environmental crisis events happened frequently, and one of the typical representations is that the public fight for the PX programs. According to Ulrich Beck's theory of risk society, China has entered the environment risk peak during the last ten years.In the environmental crisis event, media is the main channel for government information disclosure, and people also mainly rely on it to get information. Media has played an important role for solving the environmental crisis by building a communication bridge between the government, the public, the company, NGO and others. In recent years, although China's reporting on environmental crisis has got significant progress and also gradually build up its own set of communication mechanisms, problems still exist, which influenced the spread of the media effect to some extent. In PX incident, media use risk society theory guided the reporting, which achieved good spread and social effects. Starting from the media's communication mechanism formed in the environmental crisis events, this paper conducted empirical summary about the media's performance in the previous PX events. And it put some operable suggestions and opinions for media after analyzing the communication strategy and the shortcomings during the different stages of the environmental crisis events.This paper consisted of six parts. The first part included the origin, the meaning of the study and the summary about the study home and abroad. And then, based on the research results, it put forward the research questions, path and methods of the design. In addition, it gave some definition of the core concepts that related to the study in order to make the paper clearer. The second part is about the news media and the environmental crisis reports. It explored the major factors of that why the environmental crisis events happened frequently in our society, and noted that it was possible for the news media to set up a communication mechanism by the environmental crisis reports. The third part was about the communication mechanism during the pre-crisis event. It analyzed the media reports, the warning and monitoring functions and some problems before the environmental crisis events of the news media by some cases. The fourth part is about the running of the communication mechanism when the events happened. It analyzed the problem mainly from information disclosure, public opinion guidance and emotional counseling. The fifth part is the running of the communication mechanisms after the environmental crisis events. It mainly included the media monitoring, environmental education, social reflection and helping restore the image of the government. The final part summarized the problems of the news media's communication mechanism during the environmental crisis reports. And it put forward some opinions and suggestions for improvement based on the relationship between media, government and people. It hoped that it can provide some reference when the similar incidents happened.
