As Microsoft publishing depth camera named Kinect for Windows,computer vision creates a research trend based on Kinect.In computer vision field,the research based on Kinect is mainly divided into the following categories: object or human body’s3D reconstruction,object or human body recognition and tracking,gesture analysis,pose estimation,indoor scene reconstruction,etc..In view of the three-dimensional human body reconstruction is widely used in virtual fitting,3D printing,games,and other fields.This paper put forward the 3D human body reconstruction system based on Kinect.The main contributions of this paper are as: firstly,a non rigid 3D human body scanning and reconstruction method which is based on two Kinects is proposed.One scans the upper body,the other scans the lower body.Secondly,by three dimensional projection,the dimension of k-d tree is reduced.Then,in the process of triangular mesh simplification,quadric error metric often only considers distance factor.And the distribution density of simplified meshes is not reasonable.In order to make the quadric error metric as much as possible to simplify the model in the flat area and preserve the details of the larger curvature area in the model.The concept of the triangle folding can be used into Zhou Kun’s mesh simplification algorithm in the form of weight value.Experiments show that this method can enhance the sensitivity of the algorithm to the high curvature region.It can overcome the weakness of Zhou Kun’s algorithm that characteristics of high curvature region are little after simplification.Even on a large scale to simplify meshes,we can also get a good grid with more details.Finally,a 3D human body reconstruction system is proposed,which is a combination of rigid registration and non-rigid registration.Then on the basis of the rigid registration,non-rigid deformation under the framework of the ICP can be used to reconstruct a global consistent 3D human body model.The reconstruction scheme is simple operation,low cost,low requirements on the performance of the computer.With the common personal computer and Kinect depth camera,we can scan and reconstruct the human body.The models reconstructed show that the overall visual effect is good,both the number of triangles and modeling time are satisfactory.Although a few details are missing,the application basically meet the needs of applications without accurate calculation.
