The three dimensional reconstruction is a computer technology and mathematical process, which is using the primitives of two-dimensional image to restore the three-dimensional shape. In recent years, the science and technology has got a great progress. Especially the development of the computer technology, has made 3D reconstruction technology widely applied in many fields and closed the relationship of the physical and mathematical model, virtual and reality. At first, this paper introduces the development history and current situation of the 3D reconstruction technology. Because of its rapidity and convenience, using the depth camera to capture the object has become the focus of 3D reconstruction. This paper is to use the Kinect, one of low price depth cameras, to capture the 3D human body image. It is improving the speed of 3D reconstruction. This paper presents a method of three-dimensional reconstruction of the human body based on the Kinect depth camera, also introduces the principle of the point cloud's transfer, segmentation, down sampling and surface reconstruction. In this method, the three top-down human depth point clouds are captured firstly, and then use ICP to find the closest point between the point clouds. By automatic iteration, a complete three-dimensional of human point cloud body is generated. Finally, the 3D human body is constructed by triangulation. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of our system for reconstructing human model. Then, this paper points out the limitation of the ICP algorithm for registering corresponding points in the overlapping part of the depth image. This paper presents a new registration method which is combining the ICP with the camera calibration, using the two Kinects to reconstruct the human body model. The results of the two schemes are proved that by using Kinect the 3D reconstruction of the human body is finished quickly in the point cloud library, In particular, it's very suitable for the three-dimensional modeling in games and animation, whose accuracy requirements are not high, and operation is complex.By summing up the research, this paper points out the direction of the 3D human body reconstruction in the end.
