In recent years, with the rapid development of smart phones and smart devices, the demand for location-based services has been increasing. As a result, the technology of indoor positioning has become one of the hot issues in information technology. Based on Wi-Fi, the indoor positioning technology has been developed rapidly, and utilized in certain situations. However, there are a series of problems and shortcomings revealed in the preliminary practice. In view of some problems existing in current indoor positioning technology, as the Apple Inc. put forward iBeacon technology in 2013 which has brought the new opportunity for development of indoor positioning technology. The indoor position technology, which is based on iBeacon, enables us carry out high precision positioning effectively in the indoor environment by merely adding some hardware, thereby overcoming the drawbacks of Wi-Fi positioning effectively. In view of this, this paper mainly talks about indoor positioning system based on iBeacon through the analysis and comparison of pros and cons of the Wi Fi indoor positioning system, as well as the research in terms of improving fingerprinting localization algorithms and the design about implementation of indoor positioning system based on iOS operating system.At first, analyze indoor positioning at home and abroad based on Wi-Fi fingerprinting positioning system by reading a great amount of material and do some analysis about the advantages and disadvantages of the principle of current indoor positioning system, and their reasons. At the same time, carry out the analysis of influencing factors on the whole room in positioning accuracy.Secondly, according to the analysis of the indoor positioning system which is based on iBeacon, describe how to use iBeacon to locate the position accurately, and whether it can effectively compensate for the current mainstream system or not. Meanwhile analysis the research of several typical fingerprint localization algorithm, introduce the principle of the nearest neighbor method (NN) and K nearest neighbor (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), as well as propose an improved scheme based on these algorithms. Furthermore, on the basis of these algorithms, propose the signal fingerprint matching algorithm which is used in this design, implement the localization algorithm, and then to test it's performance.Then, do some analyzing work about the demand of the indoor positioning system based on iBeacon, and put forward the design scheme of the positioning system. Moreover, introduce the software development platform and its circumstance, the overall design of the system and the logical structure of the system, the data flow structure and the communication protocol between each module of the system are analyzed. After that, check the functions of server module and client module in the system so as to realize the function of each module, followed by debugging of the function of each module respectively.Finally, though the building of the actual test environment for the iBeacon positioning system. Test indoor positioning system based on iBeacon under the environment which has been realized in this article, after that test the function of fingerprint acquisition of signal and positioning, and then test the three aspects used in the system, namely the positioning accuracy, speed and concurrency. After all the tests are completed in the test, the results were analyzed and compared with Wi-Fi signal fingerprint based indoor positioning system. In addition to it, propose the benefits of indoor positioning system based on fingerprint signal iBeacon.
