With the rapid development of science and technology, the Intelligent Video Surveillance System has been widely used in transportation system, buildings, banks, military and other tasks. As an important part of intelligent video surveillance field, moving pedestrian detection has been acquired more and more attention. The FPGA which has parallel processing and pipelining technology is used as the main chip of moving pedestrian detection system to achieve high detection of moving pedestrian in real time,. The inter-frame difference method which has low computational complexity, simplicity hardware implementation and strong adaptability of dynamic environment is used for improving in article, so that the inter-frame relative template matching difference algorithm which has been verified on Matlab2014a platform is presented. Finally, median filter algorithm, Sobel edge detection and inter-frame relative template matching difference algorithm is used as the core algorithm of system.By using the FPGA, the moving pedestrian detection system which is composed of camera video stream capturing module, image pre-processing module, image caching module, moving target detection module, moving pedestrian recognition module and image display module. The camera video stream capturing module is composed of SCCB register configuration sub-module and image acquisition sub-module. YCbCr4:2:2 video format data stream which is transmitted from OV7725 CMOS camera is captured in real time, which is based on the completed configuration of register of OV7725 CMOS camera by SCCB bus communication. The image is pre-processed by image pre-processing module which is composed of median filtering sub-module and Sobel edge detection sub-module. The video stream data which has been pre-processed is cached in the image caching module which is controlled by SDRAM controller. The image which has been cached is transmitted to moving target detection module to detect moving target. Finally, the video stream is displayed in real time by VGA.The result shows that the inter-frame relative template matching difference algorithm can accurately distinguish between the moving vehicle and moving pedestrian, and the moving pedestrian detection system based on FPGA can accurately realize the detection of moving target in real time.
