Radar transmitting electromagnetic wave and using its echo signal to obtain the information of target. Clutter is an important part of the radar echo signal, but it is not expected in the echo signal, in order to get information about the target, radar workers has been working to find a more effective method to weaken or eliminate the clutter of the radar. If we want to eliminate them, first we need to understand the clutter, so study the statistical characteristics of the clutter is an essential work. The study of the amplitude characteristics of the clutter is helpful to detect the target, and the study of the power spectrum of the clutter is helpful to eliminate the clutter. In this paper, through the introduction of the amplitude characteristics and power spectrum characteristics of ground clutter, sea clutter, weather clutter and chaff clutter and analyze the width condition of clutter spectrum, combined with the actual collected radar echo signal, the power spectrum and amplitude characteristics are simulated and analyzed. Combined with the estimate of the power spectrum characteristic and the technology of clutter adaptive processing, after this we can categorizing and eliminating the clutter in the radar echo.In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of amplitude fluctuation and power spectrum of different clutter, and study the conditions for the application of amplitude fluctuation and power spectrum characteristics. The main purpose is to understanding the clutter. We divided the clutter into fixed clutter and moving clutter, according to different clutter find out effective methods to suppress it. In this paper, the method to eliminate the clutter is described. This paper mainly introduces the theory and the conditions of the application of the moving target indication(MTI), adaptive moving target indication(AMTI) and moving target detection(MTD).In the MTI filter, the realization method and the applicable conditions of the delay line of the single delay line cancellation, the dual delay line cancellation, the delay line with the feedback delay cancellation and the delay line with the optimal coefficients cancellation are described. In MTD, the basic principle and the method of estimating the wide spectrum of MTD are described. In view of the above, the different methods are used for different clutter eliminate, the methods are used for actual radar echoes to compare the effects of different filter, we can use MTI filter to eliminate the fixed clutter. Use AMTI filter to eliminate the moving clutter. Use double notch filter to eliminate the two kinds of clutter, or use the static clutter map and dynamic clutter map to eliminate the fixed clutter, after this we can use the AMTI filter to eliminate the moving clutter. Analyzed the power spectrum of clutter and design the optimization filter to eliminate the clutter, so as to achieve the optimal filter.
