As the development and transition of national ocean strategy is taken into execution, the quick construction of ships has become the research focus in modern ship-building companies. A modern ship can be decomposed into flat block and curved block, and curved block make up around 80% of the whole ship. What's more, curved block are huge in number and difficult as well as time-consuming in construction, which is the limit for fast ship building. Therefore, flow-line building techniques of curved block in large scale ships should be mastered, quality and efficiency of curved block should be improved, and automated, lean, efficient as well as intelligent ship building should be achieved, and those are important ways to enhance core competitiveness in national ship-building industry and to achieve modernization and environment friendly production of ships.The research in the paper is based on the project of Integrated Manufacturing Technology and Information System Development of Curved Section Building Equipment, which is a sub-topic of the national key science and technology project-Key Manufacturing Processes and Equipment for Flow Line Building of Curved Block in Large Scale Ships (2013ZX04003041-6). The paper focused on the process management of flow line building of curved block in large scale ships, the integrated manufacturing techniques and the system interface as well as its framework development, and an integrated manufacturing system began to take shape. The detailed work are as follows:(1) The running and development of MES in modern ship-building companies were analyzed, and the current building process of curved block in the ship-building companies were explored, the problems in automation and information were also analyzed.(2) Theories, structure and robot system control of the equipment for flow line production were introduced, and the technological process of curved section building equipment as well as the integrated information system in the equipment were analyzed.(3) A method was used to solve the parameters of coordinate conversion for measuring process, and reduce the influence of gross errors in common points. The precision of coordinate transformation was improved according to the comparative analysis by this method.(4) A integrated multi-functional monitoring system for multiple equipment was developed according to the characteristics of current curved section building equipment. The system functions, the structural design as well as communication platform were completed. The requirements of condition monitoring, production configuration and manufacture control were meet.
