With the wide popularization of video acquisition device and continually increasing demand of video, video has penetrated every aspect of people's life. However, limited disk space and network bandwidth greatly constraint people's urgent demand of video, video compression becomes an essential process. To meet people's demand of high definition and ultra-high definition video, a new generation of video coding standard HEVC comes into being. Compared to H.264/AVC, HEVC can save 50% bit rate under the condition of same video quality.This paper elaborates HEVC's improvements in respects of coding structure? intra prediction and inter prediction. With the consideration that each angular prediction mode represents a certain prediction direction respectively, this paper has proposed a DCT based fast intra prediction algorithm. DCT transformation is conducted on the original data block, and then rough texture direction can be quickly estimated with the utilization of the property of DCT transformation. Then only the angular prediction modes whose prediction directions are close to the obtained rough texture direction become candidates for the optimal intra prediction mode. Thus, the search range of optimal intra prediction mode is narrowed greatly, resulting in the acceleration of intra prediction module.Focused on light field camera, the emerging hot spot, this paper proceeds from light field image's own feature, and proposes a method to compress the light field data in video sequence form. The preprocessing job is just to convert the light field images to video sequence. Four kinds of methods to synthetize video sequences have been explored, and micro image based method has been proved to be the most advantaged. Moreover, one set of video coding based light field data encoder has been achieved in this paper, with basis of open source library ffmpeg. Functions such as user-designated video sequences synthetic method, encoder types and coding parameters, are supported by this light field data encoder.
