In microcell and picocell environment, for example, indoor scene, the statistical similarity does not exist which makes the prediction of the propagation characteristics, become more difficult using traditional methods. So it is necessary to measure and simulate the wave propagation characteristics in specific scenes, providing basis for channel modeling and network planning.In this paper, a real-time platform is designed and implemented to measure the signal strength in a specific indoor environment based on GNU Radio and USRP. Further simulation is conducted in the same scene with ray-tracing algorithm. Finally the simulation data and measurement data are compared and analyzed, proving the feasibility and effectiveness of the system in a real environment.The proposed measurement system filters out the band noise in frequency domain at the receiver, eliminates fast fading using the sliding window and increase the measurement distance using the automatic gain control. The measurement accuracy proves to be satisfactory. The GNU Radio software adopted in signal processing ensures the low-cost, flexibility, scalability and portability of the system.
