With the rapid development and evolution of mobile communication technology, especially the widely use of smart terminals and significantly increased wireless datatransmission services, the demands of data transmission rate and transmission qualityof wireless services increase obviously. Wireless channel is one of the most importantfactors which influence the performance of the wireless communication systems. Thus, research about wireless channel attracts much attention. The wireless channelmeasurements can provide important reference for building the wirelesscommunication system, especially in the choice of the system design, testing, and keytechnologies. In this paper, a measurement system is proposed to measure the intensity and thepower spectrum of wireless signal in the indoor environment. The proposed scheme isimplemented on basis of the GNU Radio software platform and universal softwareradio peripheral (referred as USRP).By transmitting the sine wave in a single frequency and Gaussian filteredminimum shift keying signal (referred as GMSK signal), and then recording themeasurement data with time stamp to the database, finally we can analyze themeasurement data during a period of time with Matlab software. Thus, our schemecan measure the indoor small scale fading and slow large scale fading phenomenon. Our solution in this paper is of great flexibility owing to the functions inprocessing signals. The system is of high scalability and good portability. Test inactual environment and the analysis of the measured data prove the feasibility of theproposed system.
