With the increasing development of the enterprise network, customers demand higher quality service provided by the network. The early used distance vector VIP could only guarantee the demand of reachabilities in the conditions at that time, but it can not handle the challenges from large scale networks of present day. Therefore, besides the renewal of the hardware and equipment, it is necessary to upgrade the routing protocol. In the process of migration upgrading, the routing protocol must be replaced to satisfy the new need, and it is also required not to affect the enterprise's normal production or work based on the network, that is, to realize smooth upgrading.The system constructed by the thesis is human-computer mutual responding environment constructed in the process of smooth upgrading of routing protocol to realize automatic, smooth migration routing protocol. Based on the different calculations and principles of the two types of routing protocol, this design will use RIP and EIGRP as the representatives,since they are the most often used in the distance vector routing protocol of the practical production;the design also uses OSPF as representative, since it is the shortest way in the link-state protocol. The thesis demonstrates the feasibility of smooth transition from distance vector routing protocol to link-state routing protocol. In the solution, suggested is the upgrading plans based on the concepts of transmission area and boundary area. In designing the system, the hierarchical program designing model of Master/Slave is worked out to control much equipment simultaneously.This design centers on the above researches, and makes an analysis of different characteristics of various routing protocols, and discusses the feasibility of automation and the ways of its realization. Based on My Eclispe, the smooth upgrading system can automatically recognize the equipment of many producers by means of JAVA program designing language and realize automatic migration and guarantee uninterrupted network service for any network topological structure.
