With the increases of people's income level,transportation is becoming more and more convenient.Many people choose to travel as a way of leisure and tourism has become significant for the tertiary industry in China.Traditional tourism such as independent travel is superficial.People can't feel the cultural atmosphere or know the historical events of the scenic spots.With package tours,tourists could learn the culture and history.But the traveling route will be fixed with a time limit.Virtual tourism based on virtual technology could provide the culture atmosphere but with a lack of sense of immediacy.To solve the problems existing in traditional tourism,this research designed a smart cultural tourism system based on Mobile Augmented Reality.This paper studies the key technology of the new tourism system,aiming to show the cultural and historical event to all tourists.With this system,tourists could use a smart phone or tablet to take a photo of whatever interest them.Then all related contact including images,videos even 3 Dimensional models will appear on the screen and start the introduction automatically.So tourists could understand the cultural connotation easily.This system adopts C/S model.Considering the big quantity of users visiting all the virtual information at the same time,network latency will be inevitable.But if the scenic area is divided into many partition and every partition has its own server,then this system could achieve instantaneity,Main work of this article:1)From the characteristics of scenic areas and final performance of this smart tourism system,this paper presents the function modules and the structure of the system based on MAR.With the diversity of users,there are 2 kinds of identification to choose..2)This paper studies the technology of image feature extraction and matching.Image feature extraction is the key for image recognition and it decides the accuracy and speed of image recognition directly.This paper studies SURF(Speeded Up Robust Features,SURF)algorithm first and then introduces the classic image matching algorithm which is K-D tree(K-Dimensional,K-D)algorithm.According to PCA-SIFT(Principal Component Analysis-SIFT,PCA-SIFT)theory,the paper proposes am improved algorithm based on surf which is used to reduce the dimension of the descriptor.The experiments show that algorithm could achieve the expectations.3)The technology of image recognition and tracking in the system is studied.This system is based on the C/S model so the client-side and server-side are researched separately.BOW(Bag Of Word,BOW)and SVM(Support Vector Machine)are combined for client-side.Recognition vocabulary tree is applied for serve-side.The experiments show that these two methods are suitable for the system.In this paper,the registration technology is based on natural characteristics of the registration technology.So this technology is also studied and this paper proposes a new tracking registration process.4)According to the frame structure of smart cultural tourism system,this paper designs a prototype system and conducts the experiments.
