With the development of information technology, intelligence, information, network has become the developing trend in modern industrial control system. Since the 1980 s, on the basis of the rapid development of industrial control, embedded technology has gradually developed. Because of its advantages of high reliability, strong function, embedded controller has been widely used in industry, national defense, aerospace and other fields, which play an extremely important role in modern society. Today, intelligent I/O module has been developed rapidly with the development of embedded system.In the traditional industrial control system, I/O module itself does not have intelligence.The host control the I/O module to realize it's function through the bus, which reduce the real-time performance and reliability. Therefore, enhancing the working efficiency of the host and reducing the frequency of accessing I/O, are the key problems of the design of intelligent I/O module. In the field of industrial control, CPCI-bus has many advantages, such as compacting with PCI bus standard, supporting hot plug and high transmitting rate. So the CPCI-bus is increasingly used in practical engineering, which also provides the foundation for the development of intelligent I/O module.To achieve the high processing capacity and high storage capacity of intelligent I/O module, reduce the power consumption, this subject uses the ARM microprocessor based on ARM920 T kernel to develop a kind of embedded intelligent I/O module which is based on the CPCI-bus technology. Main work includes:(1) In summarizing the design and development of new intelligent system, according to the requirements of actual control system, this subject design the main architecture of the embedded intelligent I/O module, including the network interface, I/O interface and serial interface of the control system. The I/O module work together with the host module, network module and switch module to complete the functions of the control system.(2) To realize the system's demand on the intelligent I/O modules, the intelligent I/O module are designed to satisfied with the physical interface of CPCI-bus, the function of intelligent I/O module(including the network interface, and the I/O interface and serial interface) are tested and verified.(3) To achieve the high processing capacity and high storage capacity of the intelligent I/O module, improve the reliability of the module, reduce the power consumption, this subject adopts AT91RM9200 as the core of the micro-controller. The right components are choose to set up a computer and find a solution for low power consumption, low cost and high capability, improve the real-time performance of the control system which make the host module has more time to deal with a mass of calculation.(4) Design an experiment to verify the performance of the network interface, I/O interface and serial interface of the embedded intelligent I/O module. The experiment results show that the intelligent I/O module work properly under the condition of high and low temperature. The intelligent I/O module can work normally at the temperature range of-10° to + 50°, which reaches the requirements of the practical control system.
