In recent years, rapid advances in embedded technology and sensor technology promote the rapid development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which has been studied by many researchers and has been increasingly widely used in various applications. The advantages of wireless sensor networks include some aspects:easy deployment, automatically organizing network, not relying on ground-basedshe. It can be used in many applications, such as dam monitoring, forest detection and many other scenarios. In these applications, wireless sensor networks usually only periodically aware and collect data on the surrounding environment, but when the dam seepage monitoring area, forest fire and other emergencies occur, it lacks the appropriate response mechanisms. When these emergencies occur, the thing that the sensors can make dynamical actions like taking faster data transmission frequency has great application value. Therefore, providing such a dynamic response mechanism is of great research significance in the wireless sensor networks. This paper presents the dynamic responsive mechanism of the sensor networks, its main work and research results of it are as follows:(1) We compare current routing protocols in wireless sensor networks from multiple perspectives, by considering the advantages and drawbacks of them. Due to the outstanding performance of the CTP (Collection Tree Protocol), so we select it as a basic research protocol. On the base of the CTP, we present a dynamic responsive mechanism, which can make the nodes in the network response to the change of the monitored environment. And the response includes dynamically adjusting the transmission frequency and the routing selecting strategy to reflect the timely change of the environment.(2) The designed new protocol added in the dynamic responsive mechanism forms the network, in which the nodes can maintain periodical monitoring the environment in normal situation, but also dynamically make a timely response to the changing environment. The responsive actions include two ways:dynamically adjusting the data transmission frequency and the routing selecting strategy.(3) On the base of the designed protocol, we further present an energy threshold sensitive responsive mechanism of the nodes'data transmission frequency, which makes the nodes that has detected the emergency and is taking the fastest frequency to send data are sensitive to energy change, and let the portion of these nodes back to the slow transmission status. By doing so, it can save some energy to avoid the early deaths of the nodes in the region.
