With the wide application of the computer and information technology in different trades and industries, enterprises especially those manufacturing industries also bring in the technology of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. The reasonable application of these technologies will play an important role in promoting enterprise competitiveness. However, t in the context of the auxiliary CAD design, enterprise amounts of data in the form of related graphs and technical documents began to increase. Although a lot of enterprises has reached advanced state on design means, the management of their graphs and documents are still in the manually-managed stage. With the daily inflation of the graphic and documental data, the disadvantages of manual management become more and more obvious, such as chaotic management, loss, errors, non-conforming versions of designing data and technical documents occur, what is even worse, it is difficult to retrieve or query these documents. These materials can be reused when there is a joint research and development within the institute or among different institutes.Which lead to they can't turn data into productivity although they are rich in technical data. To some extent, this case severely drags the improvement of control efficiency and the application of enterprise information technology science..To solve the mentioned problems, many enterprises adopt the graphic documents managing system and efficiently manage their technical graphs and documents by management software and therefore reaching the aim of safely,conveniently retrieving the technical data needed. The thesis studies and analyses the management system of engineering graphic documents, adopting database,journal system and other related technologies, develop the prototype system for the management of engineering graphic documents so as to improve enterprises' ability to manage their engineering graphic documents.The first part of this paper elaborates the development of the graphic documents managing system at home and abroad. Then analyzes and studies the various system structures used in the present main management systems of engineering graphic documents and put forward a mixed-mode system structure based on Browser/Server, B/S and Client/Server, C/S. The designing process of the system makes use of Rational Unified Process, RUP, and the analysis of the system makes use of Unified Modeling Language, UML. The realization of the system makes use of the frame of Microsoft. NET and SOL Sever 2005. In the phase of system need analysis I list practical- example model and practical- example graphs and define the main functional modules in the system analysis phase. Then I list UML graphs about the static features of engineering graphic documents management system and sequence graphs describing the system dynamic actionsand make designs on the system categories and database systems. Finally I described the system realization interface and the running environments and gave a systematic testing on the whole system.
