As one of the core technologies of the Internet of things, the application of wireless sensor network become more and more widely. It is composed by many of self-organizing sensors and has a certain capability of wireless communication. The network nodes through its own organization and coordination ability to build a wireless sensor network(WSN),which will collect the effective information monitored by each terminal nodes and send them to users. But for the WSN,the limitation of its power consumption is also very obviously, which restricted the further development and application of WSN.In this paper, our researches mainly focus on the energy-saving strategies for WSN.In wireless sensor networks(WSN),in order to keep a better balance of energy consumption, reduce the energy hole, control the problem of "hot spot" and prolong the network life cycle,we proposed an energy-balanced unequal clustering routing protocol based on network partition and distance(UCNPD)for WSN.In the design model of this paper, because of the data of whole network nodes arrive the base station(BS)through these nodes which near the BS,and the nodes in this area will use more energy. So we define a ring area which uses the BS as the center to form a circle, then we partition the network area based on the distance to the BS.The nodes of this part are just in charge of the connection with the BS,and the others follow the optimized clustering routing protocol which uses a timing mechanism to elect the cluster head.It reduces the energy consumption of cluster reconstruction.Furthermore,we build unequal clusters by setting different competitive radius, which is helpful for balancing the network energy consumption. For the selection of message route,we think of all the energy of cluster head, the distance to BS and the degree of node to reduce and balance the energy consumption.Simulation results demonstrate that the protocol can efficiently decrease the dead speed of the nodes, prolong the network lifetime, and balance the energy dissipation of all nodes. In the medium access control layer(MAC)of WSN,which periodically based on the listener / sleep scheduling mechanism of nodes,is an effective way of saving node energy consumption. In the case of data transmission not being affected reduce the nodes' proportion,we improve the protocols based on asynchronous MAC.This paper design a protocol which is a low duty cycle energy-efficient MAC protocol for WSN and can be adaptive updated based on the prediction nodes' wake-up time.In this protocol, not all the nodes in the same period wake-up and send data, but wake up in different random time according to the algorithm that has been set.In this case, the network can avoid the problem of collision,cross-talk etc.caused by all the nodes wake up in the same time and save more energy. To ensure the reliable transmission of network data, the node which sends data will predict the wake-up time of receiving nodes and ensure the receiving nodes waking up timely and establishing a connection with sending note.At the same time,we join several adaptive update mechanisms in the network according to the dynamic changes of it.The experimental results show that the improved protocol not only can save the network energy consumption by effectively reducing the overall duty ratio of the network nodes and improving the reliable transmission of data but also can improve the adaptability of the network.
