City Buildings gradually increased and the population density is growing with the rapid development of the national economy. Fires and accidents caused by fire dangerous places also will continue to occur which caused huge lossed to the life and property of the people. Meanwhile, there are many drawbacks when firefighters rescue. Therefore, researching and designing a pratical fire robot which can substitue for firefighters to enter the dangerous environments is very important and necessary. Fire robot can protect personal safety of firefighters, help firefighters to understand the situation and make a better fire control strategy.This paper describes the background and significance of the fire reconnaissance robot research. It also describes domestc and foreign research status and development derection of the fire reconnaissance robot. This paper designed a full-featured, reliable fire detection robot conrol system and built a prototype robot. the main research are as follows:1. Robot control system design and its mechanical structure is closely linked, so this paper will first analysis the advantages and disadvantages of the several common mobile robot platforms. This paper chose differential wheel steering mechanism as the mobile robot platforms and do its kinematic analaysis because differential wheel steering structure is flexible, low cost and convenient to realize.2. This part will analysis the needs of the fire reconnaissance robot and lists the function which the robot to achieve and performance indicators, this paper will design the overall control system plan with the core of STM32 microcontroller.3. This part will design the hardware circuit of fire reconnaissance robot control system. The hardware circuit mainly includes the STM32 processor module, wireless remote control module, image acquisition and transmission module, harmful gas detection module, temperature detection module.4. This paper adopte modular programming ideas to compelte the program code development by Keil MDK which is a software integrated development environment. In addition, this paper will modify optimization according to the test result.5. This part will set up the experimental platform and test the performance of the robot to verify the feasibility of fire reconnaissance robot and the validity of the control system.
