THz sources and detectors have obtained great progress, so the research on THz components is increasingly important. Recently, fabricating THz elements through the novel 3D printing technology has been a new direction of the future study.This thesis mainly focuses on the 3D printed terahertz elements. Combining simulations with experiments, this paper has explored the optical properties of all these 3D printed THz devices. The research details are listed as following four aspects:First, 3D printing is one of the rapid prototyping technologies. The designed model is divided into a series of thin layers, which would be stacked layer by layer. The model would eventually be fabricated with designed shape. We have introduced the fabrication characteristics and principles for 3D printing. For the Objet30 printer used in this paper, we have explained printing resolution and the refractive index of model materials in detail.Second, 3D printing technology has been employed to fabricate THz refraction elements. We have researched the interaction between these elements and THz wave through simulation and experiments. Based on simulation results, we have designed and printed several THz elements. According to experiment results, we have analyzed the properties of 3D printed terahertz refraction elements.Third, we have studied the interaction between terahertz wave and sub-wavelength periodic structures. The simulation is mainly conducted to analyze the extraordinary transmission in THz range and the different influence of structure parameters. With 3D printing in combination with coating process, we have made several bull's eye structures. Experiments on this THz resonance device have been researched.Finally, we have made a conclusion of the concerned experiments and applications, analyzed the future research of this field.
