Optical imaging system image matching technology after decades of development has become more mature. But as a result of the real-time system, the storage capacity and the application adaptability requirements, algorithm theory and application have great difference in the application, often encounter some difficulties and problems. This thesis focuses on the television system, optical imaging system in the current selection of image matching algorithm, template extraction algorithm and computational efficiency, in the practical application of the existing image tracking system on how to accelerate the matching speed, improve the accuracy of image matching, enhance the tracking stability and other aspects of research and analysis.This paper analyzes the research status and development trend of image matching algorithm in image processing, the correlation tracking algorithm, common centroid tracking algorithm is studied, and based on this, analyzes the shortcomings of the existing optical imaging system, image matching algorithm. Based on the existing hardware system and tracking algorithm, according to the current research results of the existing image matching algorithm, reasonable selection of template matching, tracking, adaptive template matching, fast correlation method, not only improves the existing algorithms of optical imaging system for different target tracking stabilization and tracking performance, but also improves the efficiency of the algorithm.
