Design And Implementation Of The School Comprehensive Management Information Platform

Currently, there are a series of negative phenomena in our school's digitalization progress, including extensive management, inconsistent efforts, weak data collection,insufficient basis for decision-making, lack of certain standards and rules,information redundancy and information islands, etc. To solve these problems, an integrated management platform system is suggested in this article so that to standardize school management through digitalization and to integrate and share resources for better quality and higher efficiency of education to be provided by our school.First of all, an in-depth feasibility analysis has been performed by the author for an e-platform construction. Operational status and system defects of current system have been taken into careful consideration and investigation to form and finalize user requirements, performance requirements as well as detailed functional requirements of this platform.Secondly, as for platform architecture and technologies used, the platform is J2EE-based with adoption of Struts2, Spring3 and My Batis for development tools for a three-layer architecture development model. And, My SQL is used for data storage.Design of three-layer architecture highly embodies the mainstream design thoughts of "High Cohesion & Low Coupling” in current IT industry, and this is often used for fast development with decreased interdependence between layers and more convenience for logic reuse.Thirdly, end users for this platform are divided into different categories,including teachers ? administrative staff, school leaders, students, students' parents and system administrators to correspond to system modules including Student Management, Staff Management, Teachers Management, Performance Management,Logistics Management as well as Scientific Research Management. Also, interfaces are available for data services of different purposes including students, teachers,classes and courses, etc.At the same time, database connection pool, caching technology, chart engine components, log component and alarm service etc have been implemented to further strengthen expansibility, maintainability and stability of the platform.This management information system(MIS)is intended mainly for teachers andstudents for a platform of wide coverage andhigh utilization.According to feedbacks from trial users, convenience, flexibility and practicability of this platform are widely recognized among the students and teachers.
