After the World War II,the short-cycle tertiary vocational education was established in France in order to satisfy the need of higher education popularization and meet the demand of technical talents with the rapid development of the economy.There are two principal forms of the short-cycle tertiary vocational education,the STS and the IUT.These two forms coordinate with each other and remedy the problems of long-term French tertiary vocational education system.After the war,depending on the efficient advantage of short term and the precision of orientation,short-cycle tertiary vocational education in France experienced different stages of development,it continuously cultivated high-quality technical personnel for the development of French society,but there are also the problems in the aspects of major setting and enrollment.This thesis selected formation and development of short-term vocational education in France as a topic for systematic study.It aims to use the literature research method,factor analysis approach,and comparative analysis to divide the development of French short-term higher vocational education into different stages.From the perspectives of external and internal factors of higher education,this thesis not only analyzed the factors that influenced the development of short-term tertiary vocational education in France,but also discussed the characteristics,effectiveness and problems of the development.In addition,the significance of tertiary vocational education development in China is mentioned as well.
