According to the curriculum standard issued by China Ministry of Education,primary school English courses should try to stimulate students' interest,to cultivate students' positive learning attitude,and to build up student's self-confidence in English learning.The school in which this study was conducted requires students to start English learning from Grade 3 and the final English test grades should be ranked in the whole district.In order to improve the testing results,students learn hard,and the teacher also tries hard to teach English with lots of mechanical practices.This study attempts to apply TPR to primary school English teaching to help students improve their interest in learning,improve their test scores and better remember the 26 alphabet with the purpose to lay a good foundation for students' future English learning.The purpose of this study is to help teachers teach more easily,and to help students learn English stress-freely.For the above purposes,this study attempts to answer the questions:What effect will TPR have on students' final test scores?How does the use of TPR influence students' English learning motivation?The study uses questionnaires,tests,and classroom observation to prove that TPR can improve the students' academic achievement,and promote and keep their interest in English learning through songs,chants,games,role plays and so on.Through this conclusion,TPR can be used in primary school English teaching to help students learn English easily.It is also suggested that this teaching method be promoted among primary school English teachers.
