On September 4,2014,the Ministry of Education issued The Opinions of the State Council on Deepening the Reform of Examination and Recruitment System(hereinafter referred to as The Opinion)[(16)].Among a series of policies in the reform of college entrance English examination,the most striking one is that foreign language test will no longer be held in the unified college entrance examination,but more than one social exam per year.The People's Government of Jiangxi Province issued The Plan on Deepening Reform of the Examination and Recruitment System in Jiangxi Province(hereinafter referred to as The Plan)on December 25,2014.The Plan points out clearly: since school freshman in 2017,there will be two chances for English exams per year,including written test and listening test;high students can at most apply for two tests and choose the better achievement as their final English results in college entrance examination.Based on the previous research,by combining with the new reform of English examination in Jiangxi province,and comparing some concrete reform plan of some pilot provinces,it is found that there are many differences among them.But no matter written test and listening test separately be held in Jiangxi,the drop of the full mark of English from 150 points to 100 points in Beijing,or to establish a standard test questions and examination rooms in Shanghai,the purpose of the reform is to realize the nature of English and focus on improving students' ability in using English.The research explores what kinds of problems the reform will bring to teachers and students of Jiangxi province and how to deal with such problems by reviewing literatures,distributing questionnaires to students and interviewing teachers of English.As Jiangxi province to which the research subjects belong has not yet officially implemented the new deal,questionnaires and interview questions of the research are designed so clearly that students will not be confused about making choices.This research takes the school administrators,teachers of English,and high school students in Ganzhou city(senior high departments of Gangzhou Middle School,Gangzhou No.1 Middle School and Ganzhou No.3 Middle School)as the research subjects.First of all,questionnaires were distributed to 100 high school students.Then,6 school leaders who are in charge of teaching and 10 teachers of English were interviewed.By collecting and analyzing the data,the thesis forms the following researching findings.1.The reform of college entrance English examination will bring mainly four problems to school administrators' school curriculum,teachers' teaching and students' learning.They are: The reform may increase students' study burden;two times of exams per year impact the normal classroom teaching;the reform may trigger education inequity;the reliability and validity of two times of exams per year.2.Four countermeasures were put forward to deal with the problems mentioned above: innovating teaching ideas and changing teaching methods;selective-class teaching and small-class teaching;setting up examination question bank;and carrying out the socialization of the college entrance English examination.3.The newly reform of English examination in Jiangxi province can provide experience for the further improvement of college entrance examination in our country,but it is just a first step to perfect our examination and recruitment system.Two chances for exams can just increase opportunities to take exams;there is still a long way to go to realize the social exams.
