Ecological classroom is not only the ideal form of primary and secondary school classroom construction in China,but also one of the hot spots in recent years.Ecological classroom is to optimize the ecological classroom factors and the relationship among the various ecological classroom factors so as to construct a harmonious ecological classroom system with sustainable development and the best teaching effectiveness.Under the guidance of the theories of ecology of education,ecological classroom and National English Curriculum Standards(NECS),the present English classroom teaching is observed and analyzed in senior high school with the purpose of learning about its present situation and finding its existing contradictions and imbalances.Furthermore,an experimental study on English ecological classroom is carried out in senior high school to see whether it can stimulate students' English learning or not.The thesis aims at constructing an English ecological classroom in senior high school and providing a reference for the reform of English classroom teaching.The thesis chooses the situation of English classroom teaching in Ganzhou Chongyi Senior High School as the research subject.Through the questionnaire survey,interview and classroom observation,the study finds that there are still contradictions and imbalances in senior high school English classroom teaching.They mainly exist in the following aspects of teaching contents,teaching objectives,teaching methods,the roles of teachers and students,teaching assessments and classroom atmosphere.Affected by the college entrance examination,teaching contents mainly focus on the aspects of the language knowledge and language skills.Classroom teaching is teacher-centered so that students become passive knowledge receivers.Teachers prefer adopting the teaching methods of pattern drills and lecture to make students grasp language knowledge quickly and acquire language skills effectively.Classroom atmosphere is dull due to lack of interaction and communication between teachers and students.At present,quantitative and summative assessment methods are the current English assessment methods.Based on contradictions and imbalances in senior high school English classroom teaching,the thesis applies English ecological classroom in senior high school.In order to verify the actual effect of English ecological classroom in senior high school,the studyselects two classes in senior one from Ganzhou Chongyi Senior High School to carry out the experiment for a semester.One class is as the experimental class in which the author adopts English ecological classroom teaching,while the other is the control class in which the author adopts traditional English teaching.To ensure that English scores of the two classes have no significant difference before experiment,the pre-test is made based on their English scores in last semester.After experiment,some students are interviewed to show their views on the implementation of English ecological classroom.In addition,the results of this semester English final test are used as the post-test to verify whether there are significant differences between English ecological classroom teaching and traditional English teaching.In the end,experimental results are analyzed and compared by SPSS.The implementation of English ecological classroom teaching in senior high school is mainly reflected in the following aspects: creating harmonious English classroom teaching environment,establishing harmonious relationship between teachers and students,setting up ecological teaching objectives,adopting diversified teaching methods and teaching contents,using multimedia in a proper way,creating good classroom atmosphere,adopting ecological teaching process,perfecting teaching assessment methods.The research shows that: 1)English scores of the experimental class adopted English ecological classroom teaching improves significantly;2)The effect of English ecological classroom teaching in senior high school is good and it has a positive influence on students' English learning;3)The English ecological classroom teaching in senior high school is conducive not only to improving students' English learning interests and cooperative learning ability,but also to promoting comprehensive and sustainable development of students' English competence;4)The English ecological classroom can provide reference for the reform of English classroom teaching and it is worthy of application.
