Ecology is a study of dialectical and unified relationships between biology and environment. It is also a scientific way of thinking which has been widely applied in the social scientific fields.Educational ecology(EE,for short)is a new discipline where ecological thinking and education theories are well connected, and it provides new perspective and direction for researching and resolving educational problems. Therefore,it is very essential for us to study sustainable development of English teachers in senior high schools from the perspective of EE.However, according to the literature review, the current research of English Teachers' Professional Development(ETPD,for short)is mainly focused on universities.Little research has been conducted in senior high schools. In consideration of such situation, this thesis probes into English teachers' sustainable development in senior high schools, based on the orientation of EE.Therefore, the research questions that guided this thesis are as follows:1)How to strengthen the consciousness of Teachers' Professional Development?2)How to build cultivated and harmonious campus ecological culture?3)How to formulate reasonable campus management and evaluation system?4)How to improve teachers' career well-being?To better conduct the research, this thesis undertakes investigation in 7 senior high schools in Ganzhou urban area in Jiangxi Province. It takes English teachers in these 7 senior high schools as research subjects, and adopts questionnaires and interviews as main methods.According to the analysis,we can see that ETPD is in the state of ecological imbalance, such as,unreasonable structure of teacher groups, imbalance of teachers' internal structure, job burnout of teachers, ecological imbalance of school management, and flowerpot effect of teaching training. With the help of the theoretical analysis and research data, the author puts forward strategies of improving the development of awareness and capacity, cultivating harmonious campus cultural ecology, developing a reasonable and diversified management and assessment system, increasing material treatment and career well-being.The research broadens the perspective of Ecology and ETPD,which is of great theoretical and practical significance to the integration of EE and ETPD.
