Reading is a very important skill in people’s daily life and learning.For English learners,reading skill is the basis for developing comprehensive language competences.The development of English learning is inseparable from the effective reading skills.With the deepening reform of the new round senior high school English curriculum,the senior high school English reading teaching also has been put forward higher requirements.“3 Queries and Inquiries” is a teaching model promoted by the Dean of Teaching Research Office Yang Wenpu and his team in Xixia County,Henan province.It mainly includes four teaching steps with querying and inquiring,to promote students to ask questions initiatively,think independently and cooperate to explore the problems.From the perspective of educational ecology,the English reading teaching is regarded as an ecosystem.Based on the minimum principle,optimum principle and “flower effect” of educational ecology,this thesis applied the “3 Queries and Inquiries” teaching model into English reading teaching to explore the practical application of English reading teaching in senior high school and find out the influences on students’ English reading ability.In this thesis,questionnaire,experiment,interview and data analysis are used to know problems that existed in the senior high school English reading teaching,and to study the effectiveness of the application of “3 Queries and Inquiries” teaching model in senior high school English reading teaching.In order to know the status quo of senior high school English reading teaching,the author sent out 300 questionnaires for students of three different level schools in Ganzhou.At the same time,two classes students with same English level in one senior middle school of Ganzhou area were selected as the experimental subject,and the experimental study was conducted for 16 weeks.One of the classes is the experimental class,using the “3 Queries and Inquiries” teaching model for English reading teaching,another class is the control class,using the daily PWP teaching model for teaching.To ensure that there was no significant difference in the reading level between the two classes,a pre-reading test was conducted prior to the experiment.After the end of the experiment,a post-test was performed to check the reading level change between the two groups and to use the SPSS software for data analysis.In addition,students in the experimental group were interviewed to know their views on the application of the “3 Queries and Inquiries” English reading teaching model.The findings of this thesis are as follows: there are still many problems in senior high school English reading teaching at present,such as the students’ lacking positive learning motivation,teachers’ lacking multiple teaching methods and evaluation methods and so on.Carrying out “3 Queries and Inquiries” English reading teaching model in senior high school is conducive to improving the efficiency of English reading teaching.It not only enhances the students’ reading interest,improves the students’ reading level,but also effectively enriches the teacher’s teaching methods,promotes the professional development of teachers.This research not only has the theoretical significance of broadening the research perspective of senior high school English teaching and the research field of educational ecology,but also has the practical significance of promoting the deepening reform of English teaching with the era requirements,and realizing the happy learning and lifelong education.
