Background: With the development of economy and the improvement of living standards, development of population aging, and the correlation between physical activity and physical health and quality of life of the elderly has gradually received attention from all walks of life.purpose: To investigate the correlation between physical activity, muscle function, and quality of life in elderly women.method: This study is a cross-sectional study and used a questionnaire survey to investigate the population characteristics, physical activity(The Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly,PASE)and quality of life(The MOS 36-item short-Form Health survey,SF-36)of 198 elderly women over 60 years, muscle function measurement 30 s chair-stand-test(30-s CST),handgrip strength(HGS),usual gait speed(UGS),timed up and go(TUG).Using pearson's product-moment correlation to analyze the correlation between physical Activity, muscle function and quality of life of elderly women.Using the one-way ANOVA to analyze the differences in muscle function and quality of life.A multivariate linear regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of quality of life, and hierarchical effects were used to analyze the mediating effects of muscle function on physical activity and quality of life.Results:(1)The mean score of the physical activity(PASE)was 139.21±47.73 points in elderly women, and physical activity was intermediate level.Physical activity was different among older women at different ages(p<0.05),the different was statistically significan.(2)The mean score of the quality of life(QOL)was 139.21±47.73 points in elderly women.Quality of life was very different in different age groups, chronic diseases and exercise habits(p<0.05).(3)There was a weak positive correlation between physical activity and muscle function index(TUG)(r=0.221,p<0.05).There was significant difference between the altered physical activity groups on TUG(p<0.05).(4)There was a very significant positive correlation between physical activity level and quality of life(r=0.293,p<0.01),there was different between physical activity groups and each dimension of quality of life(p<0.05),the different was statistically significant.(5)There was positive correlation between 30-s CST and quality of life(QOL)in different groups(p<0.01);there was a very significant positive correlation between TUG and QOL(p<0.01).30-s CST and TUG were significantly differences in QOL(p<0.05),and the differences were statistically significant.(6)In the multiple linear regression model, age, chronic disease, exercise habit, physical activity and muscle function were used to explain 25% of the change of quality of life,of which the most explanatory is “chronic disease”(14.8%),PSAE(6.6%),and muscle function(6.3%);Muscle function was a partial mediating effect between physical activity and quality of life by multilevel regression analysis, and the mediating effect was 0.0720.Conclusion:(1)physical activity was intermediate level of elder women and changed with age.(2)Quality of life was above average level of elder women, but it would reduce with the change of age and the increase of chronic diseases.(3)There was apositive correlation between physical activity and muscle function in elder women, and physical activity was higher, muscle function was better.(4)There is positive correlation on physical activity and quality of life in elder women, and physical activity was higher, quality of life was better.(5)There is important positive correlation between muscle function and quality of life.and muscle function was better, quality of life was better.(6)Multiple linear regression analysis found that chronic diseases, age, exercise habits, physical activity, and muscle function all had a significant effect for quality of life.Among them, chronic disease was the main affecting factor, next was physical activity and muscle function, muscle function had a partial mediating effect on physical activity and quality of life in elder women.
