Research On The Employment Issues Of Maritime Graduates In QHVTC

With the quick development of economic globalization,the allocation of global resources and the amount of commodity circulation have increased rapidly.Carriage of goods by sea accounted for more than 90% of the total cross-border transportation.Safe delivery of the goods by maritime transport to the consignee on time is a key guarantee to promote the development of the international trade.Seafarers,as the key factor,play an important role in maritime transport operations.In August 2014,the development of the maritime industry was officially upgraded to national strategy.“Improving the training system of shipping talents”,“strengthening the construction of the seafarers team,especially the senior seamen team”,“and vigorously cultivating professional and international maritime personnel" will be included into the important safeguards to promote the development of the shipping industry.In 2015,the state proposed the national strategy of "Maritime Silk Road" and "The Belt and Road",which created a major strategic opportunity period for the development of the maritime industry.However,as the imbalance of the supply and demand of seafarers emerged in our country,the career satisfaction of seafarers declined rapidly,and it becomes less attractive for the excellent young people.The practical job skills and the overall quality of most of the employed seafarers don't meet the actual career quality requirements of the shipping enterprises.The contradiction brought no small obstacle for the sustainable supply of our elite team of seafarers as well as the implementation of China's maritime power strategy.As a maritime professional training oriented vocational college,how to seize the opportunity of historical development and master the requirements of the occupational quality of the navigation professionals under the new situation,so as to take effective measures to improve the training mode of maritime personnel as well as the mode of employment education,strengthen the sense of responsibility and sense of mission of the graduates,enhance the international competitiveness,and cultivate the excellent talents for China's shipping industry have become a realistic issue.Taking the current education situation of Qingdao Harbor Vocational and Technical college into consideration,this paper focuses on the current employment status of graduates of navigational major.Through the analysis the employment statistics of the recent three years as well as the visiting and investigation of the employment units,the paper tries to summarize the various problems existing in the graduate employment,carefully analyze the causes of the problem,find the countermeasures and put forward suggestions on occupational planning and employment of navigational graduates,so as to promote the overall ability of the navigation gradates in our college,further deepen the school-enterprise cooperation,enhance the employment satisfaction of both the graduates and shipping companies,attract more outstanding young people into the occupation of seafarers,and provide personnel to ensure the implementation of the strategy of China's maritime power.
