Critical thinking originated in the philosophical fields of European countries and the United States.In the 1980 s,Chinese scholars began to study in this field.At present,critical thinking has become a hot spot in the field of higher education in China and is an important part of talent cultivation.With the continuous popularization of quality education and the demand for innovative talents in the country,how to cultivate students' innovative spirit has become the focus of education researchers.However,under the influence of batons in the“college entrance examination”,students in compulsory education in China tend to focus on the training of exam-oriented education.To a certain extent,the development of students' critical thinking is suppressed.The traditional English teaching model only pays attention to students' language knowledge.Ignore the cultivation of students' thinking ability.After the high school students experienced the education of kindergartens,elementary schools and junior high schools,their creative thinking and criticality were initially established.At this stage,students liked to raise questions with their teachers and they were very active in thinking.The stage is the best period for cultivating students' critical thinking.How to use the thinking characteristics of high school students at this stage to seize the opportunity to cultivate their critical thinking skills and cultivate higher talents for the development of the country has become an issue that scholars have been competing to study in recent years.This research mainly uses the relevant background of critical thinking itemization skills as the theoretical basis.Through literature analysis,combined with the current state of thinking ability of students,the three critical thinking skills that are suitable.During the research process,combining the contents of the textbooks used in the High School,Foreign Studies Society,and using the second grade of a private high school in Hanzhong City as the research object,through the two rounds of action research,we will cultivate the “analysis”,“inference” and “evaluation” skills in critical thinking.Ways to explore,in order to achieve the goal of improving students' English reading ability and developing students' critical thinking.Through the two rounds of action research,the author got the following conclusion:combining the teaching materials in the daily teaching to cultivate students' critical thinking skills can improve the students' critical thinking and test-taking ability.The students' critical thinking in the sub-items skills can be cultivated through certain teaching methods.In the cultivation process,students' overall thinking ability can be improved,and this advantage can be applied to the examination reading questions,thereby improving the students' test-taking ability and volume scores.To achieve the purpose of quality education,and also to meet the requirements of exam-oriented education.
