As we all know,grammar plays an important role in English teaching in junior high school.It is obvious that grammar learning is important for students in junior high school.Inquiry-based teaching can improve students' grammar ability and stimulate students' interest in grammar learning.Students can be more active in learning grammar rather than passive.The thesis aims to apply inquiry-based teaching method in junior high school.Researcher carried out an experiment for nearly four months.The subjects were 98 students in a junior high school in Shenyang.Fifty students were selected from Class five Grade eight,while forty-eight students were selected from Class six Grade eight.The author applied inquiry-based teaching method of teaching grammar in Class six Grade eight.The author adopted four instruments which were questionnaire,interview,pre-test and post-test.Students' scores could be collected and analyzed by SPSS 20.0.The data showed that inquiry-based teaching can attract students' interest and improve students' grammar learning proficiency.The thesis includes five parts.Chapter one is mainly about introduction of the thesis.Chapter one includes the background of the study,the significance and purpose of the present study and overall structure of the thesis.Chapter two is about literature review.The chapter introduces inquiry-based teaching's definition,characteristics and models.At the same time,chapter two introduces the theoretical bases,such as cooperative learning theory and cognitive learning theory.Chapter two also introduces the relation between inquiry-based teaching and grammar teaching.Chapter three introduces research questions,research subjects,instruments,procedures,data collection and data analysis.Chapter four is about the results and discussion of the thesis.Chapter five introduces the major findings,pedagogical implication,limitations of the study for further research.
