Grammar learning is an essential part of language.It also plays an important role in daily life communication.More specifically,grammar is the foundation of English learning.It can directly influence the students' listening,speaking,reading and writing skills.There is no doubt that it is also a big challenge for Chinese students to learn English grammar well.Most English teachers just list the grammatical rules on the blackboard during classroom teaching,while students take in the grammar points passively.However,Inquiry Teaching encourages students to explore knowledge with the help of teachers' guidance.The students are the core of classroom learning,and they can cultivate their independent thinking by individual study and group work.This study tries to test two problems:(1)What are the effects of Inquiry Teaching Approach on students' grammar learning proficiency?(2)What are the changes of students' interests in grammar learning? In order to answer those questions,this study adopted two questionnaires,two tests,and interview.The conclusion is based on those instruments.According to the analysis of data collection,Inquiry Teaching can not only help students improve their grades but also get the students involved in English learning.Compared with the traditional way of grammar teaching,Inquiry Teaching can evoke the students' learning interests to the fullest potential.At the same time,the students' inquiry and cooperative learning abilities can be improved as well.What's more,the students' independent thinking abilities are also improved through this experiment.Depend on the result of interviewand post-questionnaire,the students welcomed this way of grammar teaching.This paper is based on experiment in a short time,so there is no doubt this paper contains some limitations,but it can also provide useful guidance to senior high school grammar teaching.
