In today's world,with the rapid development of knowledge economy and the new curriculum reform,teachers are obliged to meet higher and newer requirements.Teachers are no longer the traditional teaching craftsmen who “proselytizes,instructs,dispels doubts”,but are required to keep pace with the times,constantly seeking progress and development.They should gradually grow into professional educators with thought,educational wisdom,professional spirit and personality to adapt to the new era.To this end,the development of professional skills of teachers is an inevitable trend.And the study of professional development of teachers under the current educational background is also very important.In this paper,the author discusses the professional development process of the excellent teacher Liu,and focuses on the self-effort and the main factors influencing the professional development of Liu in each period.The study found that Liu's professional development process can be divided into five stages: pre-job preparation stage,entry adaptation stage,ability enhancement stage,skill completion stage,and style formation stage.The factors that affect the professional development of Mr.Liu include the external factors and internal factors.The external factors are mainly the environmental factors of Liu's life and work.There are family environment,school environment(school's culture atmosphere,expert guidance,colleague relationship and school leadership),higher education Department and social environment;internal factors means Liu's personal factors,including Liu's personal needs level,career aspirations,self-professional development needs and awareness,self-reflection and so on.Among them,Liu's personal factors play a decisive role in the professional development.Mr.Liu's case tells us that the professional development of teachers is accompanied by the teacher's life experience of several different stages.To be successful in professional development,a teacher must own the following qualities: self-professional development awareness,teacher's career ideals,the concept of lifelong learning,the awareness of reflection and research,love for students and focus on teaching ability based on teaching practice.
