English reading strategy refers to specific actions,behaviors,steps and techniques that are acquired by learners for improving their English reading efficiency.Based on previous studies,English reading strategies have a relationship with students’ English reading achievement.Therefore,it is necessary for teachers to help students find effective English reading strategies..While we must recognize that language learning is a complicated process,the research should combine many complex factors for a comprehensive understanding of the second language acquisition.Among the factors to cause the individual differences,emotional factors have become the focus of researches that aim at the examination of the mechanism of the achievement of foreign language learning effciency.Arnold(2000)points out that paying attention to emotional factors can lead to more emotional learning.Emotional factors consist of a lot of parts,self-efficacy as an indispensable part in foreign language learning has attracted the interest of many researchers in the past two decades.Bandura thinks that academic self-efficacy refers to the students’ expectation and judgment about the ability whether they can finish the learning tasks or succeed in performing a specific learning activity.It has an important influence on the use of learning strategies.The present paper explores the relationship among English reading strategy,English reading self-efficacy and English reading achievement from the perspective of English subject.Questionnaires were designed to collect the data about English reading strategy and English reading self-efficacy from 55 students in a high school in Fuzhou city.The data were analyzed with SPSS 19.0 and the results suggested that high school students kept a medium level of English reading strategy and English reading self-efficacy and there was a positive correlation between self-efficacy and the application of learning strategies which resulted in a better achievement of English proficiency.
