The development of all countries in the world cannot be separated from the exchange and communication of language,and English as an international language has been paid attention to by many people.Vocabulary is one of the three elements of language,and it throughout the whole process of language learning;therefore,in order to learn English well,it is very important to master a certain amount of vocabulary;however,in high school English teaching,vocabulary teaching is often separated from other aspects,and has not received enough attention.Through the author's investigation,many teachers use the traditional vocabulary teaching methods to explain vocabulary.These traditional methods are boring and mechanical,so that students are afraid of learning vocabulary.In this case,it is very important to find a suitable vocabulary teaching way.Until 1950 s,lexical chunks were put forward,and many scholars began to have a new understanding and comprehension of vocabulary.Lexical chunks are the smallest unit of communication preset,and it has the semantic and grammatical functions,multi word structure,and relatively stable and frequently used;therefore,the study of lexical learning theory provides a good breakthrough to the second foreign language learners.Lexical Chunks Theory provides a new direction and way for the study and teaching of English,especially for the English Vocabulary Teaching in senior high schools in china;therefore,the author focuses on the study of lexical chunks theory in English Vocabulary Teaching in senior high school.In this study,Chomsky Universal Grammar Hypothesis and Cognitive Psychology are used as the theoretical support.In order to find a suitable teaching way of high school students' vocabulary learning in our country,the author conducted a questionnaire survey for Harbin NO.1 Senior High School students in Heilongjiang Province.The questionnaire aims at presenting the situation of vocabulary learning of senior high school students,and investigating the understanding and application of the lexical chunks and lexical approach;meanwhile,the pre-test and post-test of the vocabulary test papers were carried out to the students.Finally,the data were analyzed and summarized by SPSS22.0 and Excel.After theconclusion,the author finds that the application of lexical approach in senior high school not only improves students' vocabulary learning methods and strategies,but also increases their interest and confidence in English learning.It confirms the hypotheses that the author put forwards at the beginning of the research.At the end of this paper,the author summarizes the research findings,implications and limitations.It is expected that the lexical chunk approach can be applied to English vocabulary teaching in senior high school in China and provided certain reference for the future English teaching and lexical study.
