Study On The Anxiety Of Gay’s Wife Group Based On Anxiety Theory Of Rollo May

As a vulnerable group,China’s gay’s wife not only have to face many troubles and injuries in life,but also face great threat and oppression psychologically.Gay’s wife’s anxiety is the most common and concentrated psychological problem,which is the focus of this paper.This paper deeply analyzes the nature of gay’s wife anxiety,sources of their anxiety and how they deal with their anxieties in daily life based on the anxiety theory of the famous humanistic psychologist Rollo May.Virtual field survey combined with observation,depth interviews are adopted to carry out the long-term observing on internet platform of Gay’s wife,recording the group’s words and deeds in this study.25 gay’s wives are invited for depth interview from 2 active online gay’s wife communities,with nearly 100000 words of text obtained.Based on the anxiety theory of Rollo May,the anxiety of gay’s wife can be regarded as the uneasiness caused by the threat of a certain value,which is seen as the root of her existence.And the anxiety of gay’s wife is a inner conflict,forming a reciprocal relationship with anxiety in return.The study found that the anxiety of gay’s wife mainly comes from concerns about identity,multiple blows in marriage,children problems,extreme public opinion and rights difficulties.In addition,gay’s wife resort to two main types of treatment in the face of anxiety: destructive ways and constructive ways.Some of the gay’s wife choose to turn a blind eye to the problems in the marriage or make compulsive action,and some will even choose suicide.However,some of them will actively seek self-help channel and professional psychological treatment or strive to apply for divorce.This paper conducts a targeted study of anxiety of gay’s wife in a new perspective based on the theory of Rollo May,as a result enriches the scope and fruit of the study of gay’s wife group.This study suggests that gay’s wife should have the courage to overcome their anxiety.Domestic psychological counseling and treatment institutions and social work organization should notice the presence of the gay’s wife and provide support for them,making contributions to the reestablishment of their healthy psychology.
