The reflective teaching,which stems from the normal education in the western countries since the 1980 s,intends to solve practical teaching problems and improve teaching quality.Pursuing rationality in teaching practice and emphasizing the common development of teachers and students are its essence.The reflective teaching influences the world as well as China quickly for its combination of “learning how to teach” and ” learning how to study” and has become a strong teaching idea.Now,the reflective teaching is regarded as the most reasonable teaching method,and it is also promoted in large scale in the new curriculum reform.Reflective teaching,the important means of promoting teacher's professional development,gets more and more English teacher's attention.This research mainly adopts the methods of literature review,questionnaire survey and interview to know the current condition,the influencing factors of implementing reflective teaching,and how the reflective teaching influences teacher's professional development practically.First,briefly introducing abroad and domestic research condition,and the basic theory of reflective teaching,then the author proposed the new idea that reflective teaching can promote the high school English teacher's professional development based on the former researches and current education condition.By using action research,examining the subjects' answers to the questions,record of the interviews,much real classroom activities' information of the chosen subjects is collected.In the following,the author has analyzed the collected information of the subjects and found:(1)Under the condition of new curriculum reform,the English teachers in high school can effectively carry out reflective teaching.(2)The factors affecting implementation of reflective teaching include objective factors and subjective factors.The objective factors consist of the pressure from all sides,such as pressure of heavy work,examinations and evaluation.And the subjective factors include teachers' self-efficacy,skills,strategies and methods of carrying out reflective teaching,teachers' teaching experience and sense of responsibility.(3)Reflective teaching can promote teacher's professional development effectively.According to the results of questionnaire and interview,reflective teaching can promote teacher's professional development,which mainly includes consciousness of teacher's professional development,professional ability,professional knowledge and professional moral.Teachers' professional development is a systematical project,as the important components,students,teachers,schools and related educational departments should cooperate harmoniously to cultivate more excellent teachers.This research can deepen the theory of reflective teaching and teacher's professional development.The practical significance of reflective teaching is that reflective teaching can solve the problems in the teaching process.It provides some valuable suggestions for English teacher's development,training,and English teacher's team construction.
