Gender And Identity Politics: Causes Of Western Women's Hijra

The phenomenon of female terrorism has a long history.In recent years,"ISIS" has shown a strong sense of gender in the recruitment of members,with different publicity and recruitment methods for women in different regions and cultures,and has achieved remarkable results-The number and proportion of Western women who travel to ISIS area have increased significantly,which is extremely rare in other conservative religious terrorist groups.This phenomenon poses a challenge to some of the judgments in previous female terrorism research,such as women prefer to join left-wing terrorist organizations rather than religious terrorist organizations;women join terrorist groups mostly because of misfortune,poverty,and low levels of education and so on.This paper focuses on the objective phenomenon of Western women going to Syria to join ISIS and mean to analysis the recruitment of female members,the role of Western women in ISIS through depth understanding of the database and other related materials in the Institute for Strategic Dialogue(ISD)and the International Center for the study of Radicalsation and Political Violence(ICSR),trying to summarizes ISIS's content and means of recruiting women,and analyzes the background,reason,role and influence of Western women joining ISIS.Through the research,this paper attempts to explain that the reasons for Western women to ISIS control area is more complex,in which the impact of gender factors always exist.Muslim women in Western society who were labeled "Muslims","terrorists" and "women" were isolated by mainstream society and native families and communities,unable to establish a sense of belonging and belonging to Western society,and therefore tried to join ISIS to resist the Western Country to build self-identity,which is the main reason for Western women to join ISIS.In this process,women in fact become the battlefield and sign of the conflict between the Western civilization and Islamic civilization advocated by ISIS,women's gender demands are concealed and ignored,which is the main contradiction between the expectations of Western women and women's gender roles in ISIS.
