Zhang Wentian was a major leader in the history of Chinese Communist Party for a long term.He was also a great Marxist and an outstanding proletarian revolutionist and a theorist.During the long-term revolution and the building of the People`s Republic of China,he paid great attention in ideological and political work of the party and made his systematic summary of his experience,creating his own unique theory.His theory consists of four periods,judging from its development: the first is its initial stage from the May 4th Movement in 1919 to the May 30 th Movement in 1925;the second is its formation from the May 30 th movement to Zunyi Conference in 1935;and the third is its maturity from Zunyi Conference to the victory of Japanese-resistance War in 1945;and the last is its further development after the victory of the war.He carried out his research on Marxism-Leninism and the Chinese society,the fruits of the party`s theory,the critic and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture,the comparison and discrimination of various western thoughts.The frame of his works shows that he made his concise and incisive statements focusing on the significance,position,methods,and its principle contents of ideological and political education.He also provided targeted education to young people,leading officials,intellectuals,and farmers.In a certain extent,his theory enriched the party education system and serves as a direction and reference for our current work.
