For a long time,English vocabulary teaching is playing an important part in English teaching,which has become the key and difficult point in English teaching.In the minority areas of our province,there are many students short of effective guidance so that they can not memorize English vocabulary well.Not only does it have a bad effect on their listening、speaking、reading、and writing,but will directly restrict their improvement of their overall English ability.For the purpose,English teachers should try to find an effective and proper way to change this situation.In this paper,the author mainly discusses how the senior high school teachers apply context theory to practical teaching.In addition,this study uses questionnaires and tests to obtain a lot of data.Before and after the experiment,the experimental class is conducted two questionnaires by the author.According to the results of the two surveys,we can see that many students in the experimental class are more and more interested in English vocabulary learning.Besides,most students can now use context to understand and memorize new words.Moreover,the pretest and posttest are organized among 90 students of the two classes(control class and experimental class).On the basis of data collection and analysis,it shows that vocabulary of the students increased obviously in the experimental class.The author draws a conclusion that combining the specific context with the target vocabulary teaching can breaks the traditional teaching mode.It also enhances the students’ confidence.Context-based method is very effective in English vocabulary teaching in senior high school.This study is useful to the English teachers in similar schools that have common problem in English vocabulary teaching if teachers can combine the context theory with teaching practice.They can also get rid of their long-standing disadvantages of teaching,help students rebuild confidence in vocabulary learning and improve the effectiveness of English vocabulary teaching so as to promote the teaching of other parts effectively.Only in this way,can high school English vocabulary teaching achieve a good result.
