With the development of the new curriculum reform, schools and teachers are required to change the teaching mode in class and improve teaching quality in order to meet the challenges. Thus, the new teaching mode called "1-2-1 classroom" mode are produced and has been used in high school class. This teaching mode divides the class into three parts, the former 10 minutes are used for students to do self study and group study, the middle 20 minutes are used for teachers to teach and explain, the last 10 minutes are used to do in-class test. The "1-2-1 classroom" teaching mode responds to the new curriculum reform actively. It focuses on transforming the students’ learning style to help them become more active and independent learners. It also changes the teachers’ teaching style. In class, teachers organize teaching activities as guides and collaborators. The "1-2-1 classroom" teaching mode starts with questions and organizes teaching activities around the questions. It reduces the lecture time of teachers to some extent,and helps the students to be the masters of class.There are many studies on teaching mode in order to improve English teaching quality in middle schools, but studies on "1-2-1 classroom" teaching mode are very few relatively. This study bases on the former researches about "1-2-1 classroom" ,and tries to make an inquiry about the strengths and weaknesses of this teaching mode, which can provide theoretical references and empirical evidence for teachers to use it in schools.The study also offers guidance and inspiration for the wide foreign language teachers.This research employs teaching experiment, questionnaire and interview, and has systematically studied the "1-2-1 classroom" teaching mode in high school English teaching. There are three major findings. Firstly, this learner-centered teaching mode helps to realize students’ autonomous learning and makes them become more active and independent learners. Secondly,the "1-2-1 classroom" teaching mode urges teachers to pay more attention to teaching design and activities in class, making teachers into guides and collaborators, which promotes the development of teachers themselves. Thirdly, this teaching mode makes atmosphere of class much more active and harmonious. Students enjoy themselves in class and at the same time, their performance and scores are promoted.
