A Comparative Study Between Cai Yuanpei And John Dewey's Women Educational Thoughts

Womeneducation is an important part of education,since the level of women education reflects the productivity development level and the spiritual civilization of a country to a great extent.since 21 th century,with the economic,political and cultural development,women's status and the level of women's education constantly improve,the role of women in national life has became increasingly prominent.However,women education still exists many problems present,for example,there is still gender discrimination in college enrollment,professional selection and employment.In view of this,women education still need more attention and support from nations,so that it could get a greater degree of improvement.Cai Yuanpei is a famous revolutionist and educationist in China.In the context of the old and new times,he deeply realized the importance of women education to the rise and fall of nations,taking an active part in practice promoting the development of women education,establishing a relatively perfect system of women education theory,which is of great significance in the history of Chinese education.As a famous educator in the world,John Deweylived in the great turning point of America,Women educational thoughts is an important part of his educational thoughts,promoting the development of women education in the United States and other countries in the world.This paper tries to take the women educational thoughts of Cai Yuanpei and Dewey as the breakthrough point,analyzing deeply the similarities and differences between their women educational thoughts and the reasons for the differences,in order to provide useful reference to the development of contemporary women education.In addition to the preface,this paper is divided into the following four parts:The first part is a brief overview of the women educational thoughts of Cai Yuanpei andDewey.The second part is the main part of this paper,analyzing deeply the similarities and differences of the women educational thoughts of Cai Yuanpei and Dewey.The similarities between Cai Yuanpei and Dewey's women educational thoughts mainly include: criticizing the traditional education that is full of female discrimination,emphasizing the importance of women education,advocating coeducation,paying attention to women's all-round development,the teaching principles of women education are similar.The differences between Cai Yuanpei and Dewey's women educational thoughts mainly include: the origin of women educational thoughts' formation is different,the theoretical basis of women educational thoughts is different,the purpose of women educationis different,practical forms promoting women education are different,the influences of women educational thoughts are different.The third part analyzes the causes of the differences between Cai Yuanpei and Dewey's women educational thoughts,tying to explore the causes mainly from the following three aspects:the cultural tradition,social background,personal experience and social position of the formation of their women educational thoughts.The fourth part is the enlightenment.On the basis of a comprehensive and in-depth analysis and comparison of Cai Yuanpei and Dewey's women educational thoughts,discussing the lessons and enlightenments of the women educational thoughts of them to the development of the women education in China present.
