Australia rural school teachers refer to full-time teachers engaged teaching at primary and secondary schools in rural Australia,including the quantity and quality of teachers.The teachers in rural schools in Australia were faced with the shortage of rural teachers,high turnover of new rural teachers and the lack of qualified teachers in rural areas.Rural teachers in Australia have not been effectively supported,which included the lack of effective knowledge and skills of pre-service teachers,short of effective induce education and limited professional development of in-service teachers because of the rural educational environment.Australia attached great importance to the issue of teacher assurance in rural schools,issued two government reports about rural education,implemented rural teacher education program and established a model to protect teachers in rural areas.A mature system of rural teachers assurance has been generated.Australia mainly protects rural school teachers from three dimensions,that is pre-service education,induction education and in-service education.In the pre-service education phase,rural teaching-oriented courses and relevant graduation standard have been set and rural school-based internships have been organized to get teachers fully prepared;In the induction education phase,rural schools have reduced the workload of the novice teacher,cultivated leading ability of teachers and created school-community cooperation to prevent new teachers from leaving rural schools;In the in-service education stage,flexible professional development models have been provided with rural teachers as well as communication platform.and rural teachers can participate in government-led multi-party cooperation plan to ensure their permanent stay.New South Wales is the largest state in Australia.Faced with the difficulty of recruiting teachers,lack of effective induce education and other issues in rural schools,the government of Southwest Wales have developed teacher internship program,rural teacher education project and build online courses to protect the quality and quantity of rural school teachers.Strategies mainly included the development of specific course related rural teaching,rural internship experience of student teachers in pre-service education and specific support from specialized instructors.The New South Wales tends to to expand the channels of teachers,raise special funds to enhance the leadership of rural teachers and develop the network communication platform.The main characteristics of Australian rural school teachers assurance in 21st century can be summarized to courses and internship related to rural teaching in pre-service teacher education,comprehensive guidance embedded in the inductive education,and integration of multi-party cooperation into the in-service teacher education.It strengthens the rural students' willing to work in rural schools,reduces the new teacher turnover rate and improve the quality of rural teachers.We should learn from the experience of the rural school teachers assurance in Australia to build a rural school teacher protection system based on our country's reality:firstly,set up compulsory courses related to rural teaching;secondly,fully play the main role of pre-service teachers in rural schools during the rural school internship;thirdly,strengthen the effective guidance of beginning rural teachers;finally,make multi-party efforts to jointly protect the rural school teachers.
