Objective:Clinical internship is an indispensable part of nursing education,and it is an important period for the the development of nursing students' professional skills and identity.Although the competencies of clinical nursing teachers could directly affect the quality of the internship.However,recent evidence indicated that there were still many problems in clinical teaching,especially the learning needs of undergraduate nursing students could not be met,and the internship satisfaction is lower.Analysis of these problems is mainly due to the current clinical nursing teachers with poor control of the screening,and the capacities of clinical teachers is uneven.Consequently,this research aims to construct of the ability index system for clinical nursing teachers of nursing undergraduates,which will be expected to provide reference for the selection and training of clinical nursing teachers.Methods:This study used mixed research methods,including literature review,quantitative research,qualitative research and expert group meeting.The research content was divided into the following three parts:Part?:The introduction and revision of the NCTEI scaleThrough literature review,we introduced Nursing Clinical Teacher Effectiveness Inventory scale(NCTEI)into Chinese version.This scale was translated into Chinese according to the guidelines of double back translation and cross cultural adaptation.Used the convenience sampling method to select 749 nursing students who were practicing in the 3 first-class ternary hospitals in Shanghai as the research subjects.The validity and reliability of the scale were tested by item analysis,internal consistency reliability,test-retest reliability and confirmatory factor analysis.In addition,according to the results,we compared the differences between the undergraduate and junior college nursing students in their requirements about the roles and capacities of clinical nursing teachers.This results can be used to provide direction and guidance to the content of the ability index system.Part?:Qualitative research on the ability index system of clinical nursing teachers.Used the purposive sampling method to select 11 undergraduate nursing students and 9 clinical nursing teachers as the interviewees.Colaizzi analysis method was used to encode the content of the interview,and then summarized the capacities of the clinical nursing teachers.Analyzed the proeblem from the perspective of undergraduate nursing students and clinical teachers,so that the results are more credible and abundant,which guaranteed the ability index system was scientific and operational.Part ?: The construction and revision of the ability index system of clinical nursing teachers.According to the literature review,quantitative and qualitative results,made out a draft program of ability index system of clinical nursing teachers.In accordance with the principles of universality,voluntary and representative,experts in nursing education and nursing management and experienced clinical nursing teachers were selected to participate in focus group meeting.Based on the opinions of the experts to revise the content of the program,and according to the results,we could get the weight of the index.Results:1?The Chinese version of NCTEI scale consisted of 5 dimensions and 47 items.In this study,7 experts were invited to evaluate the content validity.The results showed that the content validity of the scale was 0.985.Confirmatory factor analysis was used to verify the 5-factor model,and the results showed that the fitting indexes were fitted well(X2/df=2.849,RMR=0.034,SRMR=0.038,IFI=0.932,CFI=0.931,TLI=0.921,RMSEA=0.050).The Cronbach's a coefficient of the scale was 0.969,and the Cronbach' s a coefficients of each dimension ranged from 0.864 to 0.951,and the test-retest reliability of the scale was 0.877.2?The results of the survey were as follows.Undergraduate nursing students had higher requirements for clinical teachers' qualifications,technical titles and working years,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).Different degree of nursing students on the clinical teacher's ability requirements were different.The undergraduate nursing students had higher requirements on the clinical nursing ability and lower requirements on the personality trait,the differences were statistically significant.(P<0.05).In addition,with a wide range of nursing knowledge,encourage students to actively participate in the discussion,to help students solve the problems,guide the students to use the literature and promote students' professional socialization were more stressed by undergraduate nursing students(P<0.05).3?Through qualitative interviews,more than 151147 words after transcribing audio files into text were obtained.Colaizzi method was used to analyze the text,and the results showed that the perspectives of undergraduate nursing students and clinical teachers were mutually verified and supplemented.Six major modules of professional ethics and quality,teaching ability,clinical nursing ability,Organization coordination ability,professional development ability and personality characteristics were summarized from the interview of undergraduate nursing students.Meanwhile,the clinical teacher's own view verified the 6 modules which obtained from nursing students,and then the spirit of dedication,teaching reconsidering and management capabilities,task management and self-control abilities and personality were proposed by clinical nursing teachers.In addition,from the teacher's interview we obtained the current situation of clinical nursing education,which made the construction of the ability index system more scientific.4?According to the research results,the research group made out a draft program of the ability index system of clinical nursing teachers,which consisted of 4 prerequisites,6 first-level dimensions,35 second-level dimensions and 52 behavior elements.11 experts were selected to participate in the focus group meeting to demonstrate the feasibility,scientificity and practicability of the scheme.The expert response rate was 100%,and the expert authority coefficient was 0.882.According to the results of expert consultation,we revised the draft.Finally,made out the ability index system of clinical nursing teachers which contained 4 prerequisites,5 first-level dimensions,31 second-level dimensions and 49 behavior elements.Conclusions:1?The Chinese version of NCTEI scale has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a research tool for measuring the ability of clinical nursing teachers.2?This study was based on literature review,quantitative research,qualitative research and expert group meeting methods,discussed the ability of clinical nursing teachers of undergraduate students from the theoretical and practical angles.Eventually,the construction of the ability index system of clinical nursing teachers was scientific and reasonable.Finally,made out the ability index system of clinical nursing teachers which contained 4 prerequisites,5 first-level dimensions,31 second-level dimensions and 49 behavior elements.The results of this study can provide theoretical guidance for the selection and training of clinical nursing teachers of undergraduate students in our country,as well as it has a certain practical significance to further improve the management system of clinical nursing teachers.
