| This paper focuses on the instructional design of a speaking class based on the compensation strategies in senior high school English teaching in an attempt to check the feasibility of the compensation strategies training in senior high school and arouse students’ awareness of using strategies. At the same time this study may have some implications for English speaking teaching and improving students’ communicative competence. The participants in the study were the students of Class 3, Grade 10, in one of the key senior high schools in Nankai District in Tianjin and the author of this paper is their practice English teacher. In this study, the author mainly used test paper of the compensation strategies as well as the interview to record the result of this training.The training procedures are as follows: Before the compensation strategies training class, the author has read some theories about these strategies. Guided by the theory of compensation strategies, the author designed two training classes of compensation strategies. In the first training in Class 3, the author gave out the test papers to know about the students’ abilities of using compensation strategies. Besides,based on students’ feedback, mentor’s instruction and the result of the test, the author made some modifications of the instructional design. Then after the second training in Class 3, the author gave out the same test paper once again, students tended to use the suitable compensation strategies to finish the test more precisely.The result of this study showed that the compensation strategies are helpful in improving students’ ability of solving the communicative difficulties and improving learning competence. Besides, it can have a good application for English speaking teaching. Therefore, it’s feasible to apply the instructional design of compensation strategies in senior high school class. |
