| Open Coursewares provide open access to the primary teaching materials for courses taught at famous university at home and abroad,enabling self-learners to use the materials for the development of their own personal knowledge.To use these resources efficiently,students need to equip themselves with high level of self-learning capacity.The aim of the study is to investigate factors which affect students’ learning Open Courseware to explore methods of improving Open Courseware learning effect.The study used a combined method of quantitative and qualitative research.518 samples were chosen from four different types of universities in southwest of Shanghai.Data analysis was conducted through SPSS.The Researcher found that it is common for college students to hold a positive attitude towards learning through Open Courseware.To further know about situations of Open Courseware learning and factors influencing the results of learning,interviews were conducted among 14 self-regulated learners.The finding indicates that students learn mainly out of intrinsic motivation.They hope to expand their horizon.However,it is also found that students are lack of self-control and systematic plans in their open Courseware ware learning and they want to have the support from teachers in their learning.Through analyzing the data,we found that factors influencing success of learning included the use of learning strategy,learning motivation,self-efficiency,degree of willpower,goal setting,web factors and teachers’ guidance.Therefore,the researcher believes that students should improve their self-learning consciousness,make learning plan reasonably,strengthen self-learning efficiency,monitor learning process and evaluate progress in time.Teachers should provide students with more support and give more instruction and recommendation regarding learning strategy and Open Courseware materials. |
