The textual interpretation,especially modern Chinese articles reading,plays a significant part in Chinese teaching in Senior High School.Nowadays,it is a hot topic to many Chinese teachers about how to change low efficiency of class teaching and the phenomenon of students' passive study,even how to improve the quality and effect of modern reading comprehension in Chinese teaching.During the study,I find that the paper can use relevance theory in reading teaching in Senior High School in order to improve the efficiency in modern articles reading.That is because the reading comprehension of modern Chinese articles is a kind of cognition principles that follows the relevance theory.This paper seeks to explore text-based details to guide students to learn about cognitive skills including analysis,induction,inference and evaluation in order to improve the students' ability of text reading in a reasonable way.At the same time it also connects teachers' teaching methods and teaching contents so as to entail instruction to better meet the requirement of New Curriculum Standard.The paper attempts to combine relevance theory with the teaching practice of modern Chinese articles reading in senior high school.In this research,according to Normal High School Language Curriculum Standards and the students' feature of mental development,this paper presents an analysis into the reading teaching which reveals the existing problems and reasons from an angle of pragmatics.I will use relevance theory in the reading teaching to improve efficiency in modern articles reading,which seek to combine theory with practice.The paper is divided into four sections.The first section introduces the fundamental concepts of relevance theory and three principles.The second sectionmainly analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the application of relevance theory to reading comprehension.The third section mainly expounds the significance of applying relevance theory to senior reading teaching.The forth section discusses teaching strategies in modern reading comprehension based on relevance theory.
