| The integrated applied ability of vocabulary is very important for language learners.It mainly embodies two aspects of morphological transformation ability and vocabulary output ability,which influence directly or indirectly the students’ overall vocabulary ability.This study aims to explore the two abilities and the correlation between them,in Grade 1 of two high schools in Zhangzhou,through the English morphological transformation ability test paper that includes nine dimensions of singular and plural forms of nouns,proper form of verbs,etc,and the writing parts of their English mid-term and final test papers(hereinafter referred to as writing test papers),based on the theories of Memory Phases and Multiple Memory System,Depth of Processing,Language Transfer and Negative Transfer of Native Language and Language output.The results show that: 1)The mean score of the morphological transformation ability test papers from high school A is 44.78(full mark: 63),and the nine abilities in all dimensions of the transformation significantly have linear effect on their morphological transformation ability.The mean score of the morphological transformation ability test papers from high school B is 43.81(full mark: 63),and the nine abilities in all dimensions of the transformation significantly have linear effect on their morphological transformation ability.2)The mean score of the writing test papers from the first batch in high school B is 0.8385(full mark: 1),the two abilities in the dimensions of the verbs and their proper forms,and the singular and plural forms of nouns significantly have linear effect on their vocabulary output ability.The mean score of the writing test papers from the second batch in high school B is 0.8751(full mark: 1),the two abilities in the dimensions of the verbs and their proper forms,and the singular and plural forms of nouns significantly have linear effect on their vocabulary output ability.3)According to two batches of scores of the morphological transformation ability test papers and writing test papers from high school B,there exists positive correlation and significant correlation between the English morphological transformation ability and English vocabulary output ability(r1=0.510,P1=0.000;r2=0.498,P2=0.000).This study bears certain significance on the reformation of the Englishvocabulary teaching,especially on how to set the important and difficult points for Grade One students in high schools and on the aspect of how to improve the integrated applied ability of vocabulary of Grade One students in high schools. |
